Timothy and Lille Bennett were the first African American Family to settle in Delaware County. They leased 112 acres of land that is now part of the Maple Shade property. The Bennett Family Cemetery and at least two remnents of foundations are being preserved on the hillside.

A special service will be held September 27th for decendants and interested area residents.
